Catholic Church — One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic
Church
The Catholic Church traces its origin to Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Through an unbroken chain of apostolic succession — bishops ordained by bishops going back to the Apostles — the Church has maintained unity of faith, sacraments, and governance. She is one (united in faith and communion), holy (set apart for God), catholic (universal in mission and scope), and apostolic (founded on the Apostles).
